Me and My Munchkin: The Not-too-Strict Parenting Plan

The Not-too-Strict Parenting Plan

You all know how much I love goal-setting. I have worked out my personal 6 month and 12 month goals. One area of my life that has fallen a little behind is my parenting. So I thought that if I set a few small goals I may be able to change that, and just maybe, I could become Supermum! OK, so maybe not, but still, any positive change is good for my little Munchkin. And you can never stop learning things as a parent.

My first goal is spending more time doing fun things at home with Master A. Not getting distracted by the computer, housework, TV, or anything else. It's time to pull out the blocks and the train set and start playing!

My second goal is to get Master A's food under control. There is a reason why going to the Grandparents house is such a treat. Because they have all the treats. The cupboards are stuffed full of biscuits and lollies for when the grand kids come over. The problem is, when you live with the Grandparents, and Grandad has a problem with saying "no", this makes for meal time dramas! No more continuous snacking throughout the day and refusing to eat meals for this little Munchkin!

My third goal is to socialise Master A more. He is in day care once a week, I am looking to start Kindergym this term as well. We do have plenty of play dates however I want something a little more structured. Weekly fun scheduled in the diary.

I do have my fingers crossed that these goals will turn me into Supermum, and Master A will look at me with those adoring eyes usually reserved for when he hurts himself. That medal I mentioned earlier this week would be a welcome surprise (I have even practiced my acceptance speech!)

I will, however simply accept having an even stronger bond with my Munchkin. What more could I really ask for?

Do you have a "parenting plan"?
What would you say in your best mum medal acceptance speech?

Gret post! I too have alot of plans and I'm a list writer sometimes a few going at once lol! In terms I parenting my husband and I are constantly discussing the children, our dreams for them & how we will support them! Sometimes these can become heated (as men and women communicate differently) but in the end we realise we are saying the same thing but in a different way! In this society parenting is hard and having goals and constantly reassessing your parenting I feel is vital! Your little munchkin looks very content and happy that's te best thing we can wish for isn't it. Good job x

I am a total list writer too. When it comes to raising little human beings, I think it is very important to assess what you are doing, and whether it is working. If not, don't stress, make a few small changes. Spend one hour less of the day working on the blog, and instead spend it with my boy.
It sounds like you and your husband have it down pat!

I think thats some great goals!!

I must admit I need to clear my cupboard of chips and biscuits so I am not tempted for an easy option...

I hope you get your plan into action soon!! I must pop off the computer now and find the building blocks.. thanks for the reminder!

I think you're fine! Chips and biscuits every now and then won't kill them, but when he's being fed them all day long, pretty big problem!

I have already been putting it into action, and Today was a much happier, and calmer day, and we had so much fun together. I forget how much fun he can be when I actually stop and listen.

Hope you had fun with the building blocks!

Great goals hun! That's something I've been trying to be more aware of recently too. We've dedicated more time recently with the kids and doing fun stuff with them. like you said, we forget how much fun they are when we stop and listen.

Sounds like a brilliant plan :) I like the idea of doing more fun stuff at home too! I work full time so whenever I'm home I have loads of housework to do. Must try to just leave the mess and have fun with my girl more often too :p

Thanks Lovely, we can so easily just get so caught up in life and circumstances that they are the ones that miss out. And we are, of course, because before you know it, they're all grown up!

It can be such a hard balance, especially when you throw work into the mix as well. I hope that you are able to find your balance, and spend some quality time with your girl. That is also something I find important: quality over quantity. True in every situation.

Good on you in working towards all these great goals!
What would I say in my "Best Mum" medal acceptance speech? It would probably start with the standard, "I'd like to thank my family..." and then continue with, "As bonkers as you all send me, I love you all very much..." :)
