A few weeks back I came across this post by Pink Ronnie. I thought that the idea was brilliant, so adapted it for myself. Off I went to the newsagency to get what I needed, and I quickly got to work.
This is my new blog plan system. It is set up in the corner next to my desk so that I can easily see it when I'm blogging.
I have a large piece of poster cardboard, and used blue sticky notes across the top to highlight the topics covered on the blog. These are my main topics, and being on sticky notes, I can change these whenever I want. I use yellow sticky notes for post ideas. The post idea then gets put under the right topic, and I can make sure that there is a variety of topics included on the blog in any one week.
I choose the posts for the week and put them onto the "calendar". I have 2 weeks showing on the calendar, and have included a square for a blog goal for the week. When I am choosing my posts for the next week, I simply pick from the topics and stick them onto the calendar. Being sticky notes, it means that I can change my mind and push posts back if I'm not quite ready to write them yet.
I have been trialing this system for about 2 weeks and finding it great. The only thing I am looking to change is using smaller sticky notes so that I can fit more on the cardboard!
Do you have a system for organising your blog post ideas?
Where do you blog? At a desk, on your couch, do you have your own home office?

So excited that you've set up a similar system! :)
ReplyDeleteIt really does help, doesn't it?

It has been great! I'm really liking it! Thanks for sharing yours so that I could get the idea!

A great idea! I have a leather folder with ring binder and I write myself notes. I also use WP calendar widget.
ReplyDeleteI love organisers and planners. Whatever works for you is perfect!

I have no system and you have just inspired me to make one. I started using the calendar on my computer but I find I need to see things in real life to stick with it!
ReplyDeleteI am the same Prue, I'm really not an electronic planner person! I have only just started using to-do lists on my phone and iPad. I like it right in front of me, not on my phone where I have to open a folder to find it! Good luck with finding a system that works for you!

I am impressed! I have absolutely no plan what so ever! I have turned in to a very lazy blogger since becoming pregnant and having bubs, I used to write and schedule lots of blog posts but now I find it really hard to get the ideas in my head into a blog post. My good friend has just started a blog though and she is inspiring me to get back into it a little more so hopefully my mojo is coming back! I mostly blog sitting on the lounge, although since I got my iPad I have tried to blog a few times on the go while in the car (obviously the husband is driving! Lol!)
ReplyDeleteBring back the mojo! And sorry that I was so late to jump on the bandwagon ;)
DeleteI didn't really have a plan either, and found that I too became a bit of a lazy blogger. I have also found that the quality of my posts have picked up because I have a minimum of a week to think about what I want to include in a post. My posts are there in front of me to think about instead of in my head (where I forget). I have never tried blogging on the iPad! Find a system that works for you and go for it!

Wow! That's cool! I think I'd need to have mine on the computer though. I don't look at the walls very often... oops!! :D
ReplyDeleteWhatever works for you! Find that and use it! It makes blogging so much easier!

That is some HARD CORE blogging Chrissie! A woman after my own heart, I just LOVE how bloody organised you are! My organising system consists of a note pad that I jot things down on when the computer isn't on and a word doc that I type the notes into when the computer is on lol. I have a tablet that I use but I find that a pain in the arse to write posts on.
ReplyDeleteI can't write posts on my iPad either. I haven't really tried, but put it in the too hard basket! I shop around a lot on google for many of my organising ideas and then tweak them to suit myself and what works for me and my little man. If something works for you, go for it I say!

I havent thought of any system as yet! but do lke the idea of working out what to blog and when, as well as different topics. Great idea to getting organised.
ReplyDeleteI can't really take the credit for the idea, I just adapted it from the link in the post and tweaked it a little, adding in a calendar too so that I can schedule the posts on a specific day. It really does help though so if you can find a system that works then try it!

Thankyou! I am big on organisation too. I will head over and check out your blog.

That's insane! Insanely good that is :-) Don't know if I can bring myself to this level of organisation but I suppose I can try! Thanks for linking up for Flash Blog Friday again. Bree
ReplyDeleteHaha yes I have probably been called insane, among other things! Surprisingly though I am not a naturally organised person. I just work bloody hard to be organised, and it always pays off!

That is so simple yet so perfect! I was about to redo the mancave/office but I now need to replan the set up so this can be incorporated! I think I'll crank out the laminater to set up the main subjects covered across the top and also tie in FFS Friday, Wordless Wednesday, etc. Love it! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteOh how I would love an office! What a great idea to include the linky parties! Now you've given me something to think about! Good luck with setting it up, I'd love to see some pics when you're finished!
